Alive healthy laboratory mouse obtained from animal laboratories that have not been inoculated with or exposed to any livestock or avian species is conducted or poultry disease agent’s exotic. The fresh cerebellum, cortex, hippocampus is harvested from alive 24-48 hours’ newborn mouse brain. We used enzymatic digestion (trypsin and papain) and mechanical dissociation separation and purification. About 10 donor samples are pooled. Further, the cells are seeded, medium exchange occurred from 3 days after obtaining a culture and after, every other day for about 10 days to reach the confluence. The astrocytes are enriched in vitro, using specific medium and cultural conditions. Harvested purified astrocytes are analyzed using a laser analytical flow cytometer confirming GLAST is greater than 90%. FACScan will be provided.

Mouse Astrocytes can be used to study: Astrocyte structure and function, such as calcium activation, glutamate release and recycling, Metabolic support of neurons, Regulation of synaptic transmission, Communication with oligodendrocytes, Vasomodulation, Astrocytes’ role in the blood brain barrier, Conservation or homology in mammals or in the greater spectrum of organisms, Astrocytoma and other diseases.
